There has been a lot more cooking action in the kitchen at our house lately. We've always cooked at home...the recipes are just starting to get a little more difficult. I've found all these great recipes on Pinterest that I've been trying {see my food board here} and Talon's recent love for the show Good Eats and ol' Alton himself our spices were taking over our kitchen. So, this past Sunday Talon remedied the problem by building a giant spice storage rack on the back of our pantry door. I do not know all the dirty details of how he did it. I do know he went to Home Depot and about 8 hours later we had storage for all of our spices. Hoo-Rah. Here's a ton of pictures to help give you the idea of how it was done....
The height of each shelf was determined by spices, vinegars, etc that we already had...
Wooden dowels were used to keep the goodies from falling off of the shelf...
Little helper...
Filling nail holes to get ready to sand...
Then a few coats of white paint to finish it off...
TA-DA....
It's so functional and has emptied up a ton of cabinet space.
The shelves are bigger on the bottom for taller items...
Good job Tal! So happy to have a place to store all those spices and that they are all easy to see and grab when Talon's making me super scrumptious meals:)
Wow, that is amazing! It looks so professional. I hung a wire one in my pantry, but yours is so pretty and custom. Love.

Great job, Mr Woods, fine craftsmanship. What woman wouldn't love that in her kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I have all my spices on a shelf in my pantry and it's so hard to find anything. I can even see doing one of these with deeper shelves to store cans. Thanks for posting. I found you at Somewhat Simple.

Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI saw this idea on the DIY network the other day, but and I LOVED it, because after recently getting married it is hard to find space to put all of our new goodies and our spices and everything. I am def. going to be doing this, well me and hubs! Also noticed that you were from the Atlanta area! Love it! I am a new blogger but live about 45 minutes outside of Atlanta, I love your blog and am a new follower! I am going to try to attend Bloggy Bootcamp in October in Atlanta, if you aren't going you should think about it! I'd love to meet other bloggy friends in the Atlanta area!

ReplyDeleteI love love love this! Pinning this idea immediately ;-) I was wondering--can you answer the question of how the rack is attached to the existing door?
ReplyDeleteKorrie -- The spice rack is attached to the door via pocket screws. Hope this helps!!
DeleteCool idea. I am going to pin this!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I'm wondering though, is your pantry door solid? I'm just worried about hanging anything of weight on my door that is mostly hollow.
